You may be wondering 'why the heck is Cutiejea writing if she left?'. Please know that this site is run by past, present and future admins and my new role in PhandomAus is manage the site and Tumblr so that includes uploading m&g pics and masterposts.

Now that's out of the way, lets talk about VIDCON!!!

Yes, it's on its way and yes, tickets are now on sale as seen here.

Fun fact: Both Marcus (@MissHowlter) and I going to Vidcon so can't wait to see you guys (hence why I'm also writing this masterpost) - Still waiting to know who else in in BMO Squad is going.

And in order to prepare for the incoming wave of questions, time to answer some of the basics (and hopefully update this when more info comes... which we are).

Please note: Vidcon has an FAQ page and this blog post is just going to explain a few things that we know about the convention and what you need to do.

1. Which YouTuber is going to Vidcon? Is Dan and Phil going?

The most common question that we are all asking.

Just recently, Vidcon announced the first wave of creators

There will be more so we will update you guys. We're following @Vidcon at twitter + we're talking with people who constantly stalk their site so we'll keep you updated.

And if Dan and Phil are going... according to Dan's livestream, its less likely to happen

2. I live in [insert state/country here] and I have no idea where to live or how to go to the convention

Luckily for you, the location where Vidcon is just opposite to where I stayed when I went to Melbourne during the TATINOF Leaks!

I've been doing research and the nearest hotel for Vidcon Aus is Hilton Melbourne South Wharf. It's just a REALLY short walk from the location.

And traveling... you need to take flight to Avalon airport and there is this bus service that will take you straight to a terminal. From there, you need to either take a taxi or walk to Yarra River and keep walking to the hotel.

You could also take a fight to Tullamarine Airport since according to @Secret_Promises, she stated that it's closer. TBH, it all depends on the flight you're taking.

You can't take a tram there since it's outside the 'Free Tram Zone'.

3. How much are tickets AND what do each ticket mean?

Community ($100 AUD) - This will allow you to go to the meet ups and enjoy the convention and stuff like that. This is more for the fans, the people who watches youtubers.

Creator ($150 AUD) - This will allow you to go to workshops and panels on how to be a better creator. This is for the wannabe YouTubers or people who want to improve their videos. (NOTE: You can't enter the meet & greet halls with this pass)

Industry ($550 AUD) - This is for big companies who wants a better understanding on what YouTube can do for their business or how to create really professional stuff to attract customers. This pass is all access to Community + Creator + Industry events.

4. Let's say Dan and Phil are going, how can we meet them?

Unlike past Vidcons where they allow you to line up 3 hours before the meet up under the heat, they now undergo the 'lottery system'. What this system does is that you put in your top Youtubers that are attending that you want to meet (UPDATE: You pick 15 and you end up with 1 - 5 YouTubers) and from there, they will give you the results days before the convention.

So lets say YouTubers A - F are attending and you put in the following:

1. YT A

2. YT B

3. YT E

4. YT F

5. YT D

You might end up with all of your choices or might end up with only 2 of your choices. Reasons for this is either due to a clash of schedule or capacity or other unknown reasons.

Hey it's better than waiting outside in the heat for endless hours.

UPDATE: There is now a 'Buddy System' (and it's not the Rhett and Link YouTube Red Series) where you and a friend can input the same creators and will be given the same creators. That way, you don't have to part ways (because someone needs to hold that camera for you!)

Also, if you are being accompanied by parents or anyone 18+, they are allowed to be with their kids w/o participating in the lottery system. You just need to let them know that they're accompanying you. (So... I'm 19 by that point... if you want me to accompany you, I don't mind... as long it doesn't clash with my plans)

5. What do we need to bring when going to Vidcon?

Besides a lot of cash for merch and stuff, you also need to bring ID.

Based of what happens in the USA, they don't give you your pass and the meet & greet ID unless you can prove you are said person. If you are trading with a friend, both the friend and you needs to line up together since they won't accepted destroyed/tampered passes.

6. How do meet & greets work?

Based of the endless youtube videos and Tumblr and Twitter post I've seen, it's going to be like TATINOF where you can get 1 item signed + a photo. Based of what I've seen, an average meet up last for 1-2 mins. It's basically based on how confident and chill you are.

7. How can I convince my parents to let me go?

Beg? Blackmail? Sneak out?

TBH... that's the only thing I can think off. Like say 'this will be my b-day gift' or something. Prove your worth by showing your good grades and deeds?

Can anyone answer if Vidcon is on a school day? Like if it's on a holiday or something? I'm at uni so my academic schedule will be v different from you folks!

Fun fact: the minimum cost for flight and the nearby hotel if you're traveling from NSW is $1300. - this is for 2 people so you can also invite your mum!

8. How does one buy tickets?

You buy them online but they don't arrive to your place because you will be receiving both tickets and your meet and greet pass on registration. Registration starts on Friday (Sept 8) and ends on Sunday (Sept 10) and it's at Plenary Foyer of the Melbourne Convention Centre.

This is why you need your ID... so they can identify you.

You can only buy them online... you can't get them on the day. Sorry.

9. Will there be a Phandom Aus/NZ Vidcon meet up

I don't know since I no longer call the shots. All I can say is that there has been some small discussion and talks around the idea but nothing is confirmed since Vidcon is really far away and we mostly plan meet ups 1 month before the date.

But if I could, I would want to have a Vidcon Phandom Meet up! In my opinion, it will be the biggest phantom meet up ever since it's interstate (meaning, people from different states will arrive + more people and etc).
